Friday night 5th of May 2017 the kick-off of the Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge 2017 took place, with a great JJ’s bonfire, fire pits, live music, food & coffee vans and… marshmallow toasting for the kids!
The crowd was a perfect mix between paddlers checking in for their race the next morning and locals coming out to ‘lounge’ near the fire and listen to the live music. All with our iconic bridge in the back… Batemans Bay at its best!
Thanks everyone for joining us and all volunteers and businesses for making this first check-in night a huge success! And extra thanks to JJ’s at the Marina for sponsoring this event and supplying all cosy furniture as well!

We can look back on an awesome first ever Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge with 120 participants in a variety of different vessels and categories! Many thanks to all paddlers for coming out from as far as Melbourne and Sydney to explore our #unspoilt Clyde River!
We could not have organised this event without a very dedicated (volunteer) organising committee, all generous sponsors, media partners and partners, a huge group of day volunteers, stall holders, food & drink vans, bands & performers, kids entertainment, kayak providers, SES, Life Saving, Lions, Scouts and many more organisations and companies that have generously donated time, effort or donations towards our event.
We will ask all of you by email for your feedback on the event. Please let us know on how we can improve it to be an even better event! If you can’t wait for your survey invitation, feel free to email us: firstname.lastname@example.org. And… many photos more to come. Thanks again!
