Prizes & Partner

The Batemans Bay Business & Tourism Chamber will host the Batemans Bay Paddle Challenge. It will take place on the Clyde River estuary between the Batemans Bay Bridge and the Nelligen Kings Highway Bridge crossings.

The event will be managed, supported and promoted by the Batemans Bay Business & Tourism Chamber. Additional operational personnel on the day will be provided by local services. On water safety and rescue will be undertaken by Stan Wall from Lifeguarding Services Australia. The safety of all participants and officials is our primary goal. During the event Lifeguards, volunteer surf lifesavers, Marine Rescue NSW and the NSW State Emergency Service have combined to provide a Multi-Agency approach to your safety and wellbeing. This includes having race escort boats and jets skis, check in and course craft and first aid facilitates at both the start/finish and at Nelligen.  The event will be coordinated by Lifeguarding Services Australia (LSA), LSA has provided event safety for over 18 years at some of Australia leading events and continues to provide professional ocean lifeguards to Eurobodalla Shire Council.

It is intended to have a number of category type races that will be undertaken by paddle only type watercraft, consisting mainly of kayaks and canoes and similarly human paddled power craft. The races/paddles will occur during a time limit of approximately 4 hours (due mainly to tide timings on the day.) The races will occur over the mainly ‘slack water’  period at low tide, scheduled between 10.30 am and 12.30pm.

The prize pool has 10 race categories with a number of prizes in each category. Prize amounts have been set to attract the broader paddling community. Prizes will also be awarded at the end of the day in our lucky boat number draw for all participants who completed the course.
